Colleges have well-organized seedling nursery sites that are managed by the natural resource departments. The total area demarcated for the site is two hectares and medicinal plant production and arboretum can be maintained together. Nursery sites were established for the sake of income generation and the development of trainees’ skills in practice. Although the site was established in a recent year (2008 EC) as a project and routine activity by the farm management, it provides immense benefits to the college and nearby communities. For the past ten years, the site has produced Coffee, fruit especially, Avocado and Papaya, fodder and forest tree species for the college.

Besides producing the seedlings for income generation and support of the college, the site plays a great role in achieving the core goals of the departments and the colleges by addressing trainees’ practical skill development through delivering organized training to the college’s trainees.

This year, the department and college’s farm management plan to produce more than 250,000 seedlings from different varieties of fruits, coffee, selected indigenous and exotic tree species and fodder tree species. In general, the nursery site goes beyond its objectives and adds up its effort to country’s’ green legacies by producing time-based multipurpose tree species and supporting the government organization by providing seedlings at the time of plantation.
